Big Cypress National Preserve has over 700 thousand acres of land and Everglades National Park has 1.5 million acres so these two areas are extremely vast and ready to explore. Maps are essential and vital to navigate these remote areas and to be able to truly experience the outdoors and comprehend how much is really out there. In Everglades National Park, the mangrove islands look very similar and it is very easy to get turned around. Big Cypress is so flat that it doesn’t have many natural structure markers and is also easy to get lost in. This is not to dissuade people but just to encourage them to know what they are getting into. From hiking to kayaking fishing or outdoor photography there are so many places to explore nature and its surroundings.
This map is the one that you can get at any of the park ranger stations in either Everglades City or Flamingo. It is not very detailed but it definitely gives you a great idea of the park and what is around it.
