This board walk is great for all ages.  There is great birding.  The flora and fauna of the area is amazing.  It is a true tropical hammock just minutes away from our kayak trips in the everglades and twenty minutes from Marco and Naples.  There is a Bald eagle nest, and many photography opportunities including the resident alligator.  Some of the birds that might await your arrival are the green heron, tri-color heron, little blue heron, egret, ibis, wood storks, and many other song birds.  The whole nature/boardwalk trip can take from a half and hour to an hour depending on how much you take your camera out.
